Cardboard Furniture
In my 3-D art class in college, one assignment was to build a chair that was appealing to look at, able to hold a 200 pound person, and was made
completely of cardboard. Apparently Leo Kempf is doing the same thing. Using cardboard, he is
"creating affordable, modern, practical, unique, and environmentally friendly furniture." Make sure to check out the
project statement if you are interested in making a few pieces of your own. Via

Email Newsletters Everywhere Take A Big Hit
Outlook 2007, released next month, will stop using Internet Explorer to render HTML emails. This means that any HTML emails (such as our e-newsletter,
Vital Signs) will not appear as they would in IE7, but instead will use the
Microsoft Word rendering engine.
Unlike IE7, the Microsoft Word rendering engine will not support background images, will not support for Flash, will not support CSS floats or positioning (which is how the layout structure is determined) and gives poor support to background colors. See the comparison in the image above (from
Campaign Monitor)
Visit Campaign Monitor's Blog for the full story. Or read
Microsoft's article about it and download their new tool to help validate for their engine.
Side note: Campaign Monitor is who we use to manage and send our email newsletters and are very happy with them.
UPDATE: Campaign Monitor
has posted an article about the response to their original post.

Martha Stewart Rebrands
After a stint in prison and a brand regaining its steam, Martha Stewart has taken on a new mark. Purportedly, simplified and softened, this new logo feels a little normal and boring, if you ask me. The new mark is due to grace the numerous product lines very soon. Via

Tide Cold Ads Suggest Major Energy Savings
Tide Cold recently released a new series of ads that suggest major energy savings if everyone used Tide Cold. The caption for this ad reads, "If everyone in Los Angeles washed their laundry in cold water for one week, the energy savings could be over 11.8 million kwh. Enough to power a cruise ship from Los Angeles all the way to Hawaii." Pretty convincing. Via
